Location: Vava'u, Tonga
About: I'd wanted to swim with the humpback whales in Tonga for the longest time, and it absolutely surpassed every expectation that I had. From the sounds of whale song emanating from the depths of the ocean, to a young whale like this playing in the shallows right in front of me, it's impossible to pick the most memorable moment. This, though, was right up there. The graceful arc of a tail as a young whale heads down to rejoin its mother below.
